The man who said he could grab women by the p****y just launched a National Sexual Assault Awareness month

Donald Trump just announced April as National Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month.

No, this is not an April Fool's joke.

Donald Trump, the man who has been accused of sexual assault by numerous women.
The Commander in Chief who once implied sexual assault is to be "expected" when men and women serve together in the military.

He was also infamously recorded in 2005 boasting about "grabbing women by the p****y".
In a 2005 conversation with Billy Bush, of Access Hollywood, Trump bragged on camera saying “When you’re a star, they let you do it" adding he needed Tic Tacs "just in case I start kissing" a woman he's about to meet.

"You know I’m automatically attracted to beautiful — I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star, they let you do it, you can do anything. Grab them by the p***y, you can do anything"

He also allegedly rated female Apprentice contestants on their looks and asked for their bra size, even writing in his 2004 book How to Get Rich

"It’s certainly not groundbreaking news that the early victories by the women on ‘The Apprentice’ were, to a very large extent, dependent on their sex appeal."

Mr Trump has vehemently denied all the allegations, saying that they are false.
In 2009, Barack Obama became the first president to officially proclaim April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month - although it had been recognised by activists for decades.
However, 2017 marks the first time a person accused of sexual assault has proclaimed it.
The proclamation reads

"At the heart of our country is the emphatic belief that every person has unique and infinite value.  We dedicate each April to raising awareness about sexual abuse and recommitting ourselves to fighting it.  Women, children, and men have inherent dignity that should never be violated."

"According to the Department of Justice, on average there are more than 300,000 instances of rape or other sexual assault that afflict our neighbors and loved ones every year.  Behind these painful statistics are real people whose lives are profoundly affected, at times shattered, and who are invariably in need of our help, commitment, and protection."

He adds:

"There is tremendous work to be done.  Together, we can and must protect our loved ones, families, campuses, and communities from the devastating and pervasive effects of sexual assault.  In the face of sexual violence, we must commit to providing meaningful support and services for victims and survivors in the United States and around the world."
